Lincoln Saltdogs

CenterPointe

Jacht Ad Lab

BOSR

As a promotions and entertainment intern for the Lincoln Saltdogs I have obtained my first look into the world of sports marketing. My position requires me to use creativity to brainstorm entertainment features during the games to create an enjoyable and fun atmosphere for fans. I am responsible for assisting guests with questions and concerns during and before games and assist the marketing department with game layouts and sponsors. As an intern, I pride myself on getting the crowd involved and informing the community about the Saltdogs team. This position has allowed me to show how my creativity and skills can apply to a professional baseball team.

As CenterPointe's marketing and event intern I gained experience in event planning and promotion and appreciated the challenge of marketing a nonprofit organization. I was responsible for planning and promoting CenterPointe's annual gala event that featured former Congressman Patrick Kennedy as keynote speaker. The gala had a record attendance of over 300 people and raised over $30,000. I promoted the event by working with local radio stations and newspapers to place ads in different mediums to increase public awareness of the event. Press releases were sent out to the local media and the CenterPointe website was updated with the news releases and event information. I communicated with the venue staff, vendors, and caterer to finalize day of details and communicated deadlines and tasks with board members, donors and volunteers.

Jacht Ad lab was my first real life look into the advertising world. Jacht gave me the amazing opportunity to work for real clients in a collaborative environment with individuals who are as passionate about excelling in this industry as I am. As an account executive at Jacht I was responsible for being the liaison between our client and my team. I delegated tasks to my team members to ensure we hit deadlines and created amazing content consistent with Jacht standards. I learned to divide and prioritize my time between projects and really came to appreciate an approval process. At Jacht I had the opportunity to be a part of branding, social media, creative and event campaigns for diverse clients.

My design skills have been greatly challenged as the marketing and advertising intern for the Bureau of Sociological Research at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. I am responsible for creating all promotional materials for the department including posters, flyers, brochures and annual reports. I also update the Twitter and Facebook accounts and maintain any changes to the website. Being the marketing and advertising intern has given me an opportunity to work for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and promote a great resource to staff members.
